Village Family Service Center CEO Jeff Pederson retires

He started his tenure in 2018 as President and CEO and although it’s only been three years, a lot has happened.

FARGO, ND (KVRR) – The Village Family Service Center has a new President and CEO as Jeff Pederson steps down.

“I’m excited, but it was kind of a roller coaster ride to make the decision to retire. I’ve tried to retire once before and failed, ”said Pederson.

Pederson was retired when The Village was looking for a CEO and he saw a second act for himself. It corresponded perfectly to his values.

“I can do it. This job is done for me. I believed in what people here are doing to improve people’s lives, so it was an easy decision to join us,” said Pederson.

He started his tenure in 2018 as President and CEO and although it’s only been three years, a lot has happened.

“We’ve made a lot of transitions, consolidating services, expanding services, but overall we’ve been here through the Covid, through thick and thin and it’s an amazing staff,” said Pederson.

He has great confidence in his successor.

“What’s good for me is the stability it brings to the CEO transition. I know she will do a good job as well, ”said Pederson.

Kelly Olson will be the new President and CEO in January. She believes her 23 years in the business prepared her for this moment.

“I am very happy to start this new position, I have been in the organization for 23 years and I have worked in almost all the programs, I have supervised them, so I am really excited about this position and I ‘feel like it’s a natural next transition,’ Village Executive Vice President Kelly Olson.

Pederson also has retirement plans.

“The first thing on the agenda is two weeks of sleep, then I say day by day and we’ll see what the next stage of life has in store for us,” Pederson said.

The village serves families in North Dakota and Minnesota through behavioral health services such as mental health counseling and addiction treatment.
