The Lynn Kramer Village by the Shore at Jewish Family Service offers cool programs during the hot summer season. Here’s your chance to participate in 11 fun, unique and entertaining programs in August.
33rd Annual JFS Home Tour
Monday, August 1 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The highly anticipated fundraiser, presented by Surroundings Interiors, will offer guests the rare opportunity to tour several luxurious Downbeach homes that feature state-of-the-art gourmet kitchens, custom millwork, decor and lighting unique, beautifully landscaped, and more. Tickets are $75 per person and include lunch, sponsored by Oasis Property Group. Raffle tickets are $20 each or six for $100. Attendance is not required to win a raffle prize. Nurses Roundtable: The Impact of Workplace Health Care on Seniors
Wednesday August 3 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Join Nurse Lori Pasahow and Village Community Specialist Tina Serota for an in-depth discussion on taking over hospitals, doctors’ offices, pharmacies and more. Find out how the world of telemedicine, computerization and big business has impacted your healthcare experience. We will share ideas on how to build and maintain a “personal” professional relationship with doctors and healthcare personnel in a high-tech and impersonal medical world. RSVP by August 1.
Positivity Project: Morning Refreshment
Thursday August 4 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Start your day optimistically! Explore positivity during tough times with JFS Wellness Coordinator Mary Jean Arreola and Tina Serota. You will learn ways to improve your well-being – mind, body and soul. Topics include self-care, mindfulness, gratitude, meditation, and resilience. RSVP by August 1.

Tuesday, August 9 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Join Tina Serota for a discussion on the documentary, Won’t You Be My Neighbor, which explores the life, lessons and legacy of iconic children’s television host, Fred Rodgers. This film can be viewed on Netflix. RSVP by August 4.
Wednesday August 10 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
Join your friends and neighbors for an afternoon of BINGO games and prizes with Tina Serota. BINGO cards will be given to those who register in advance. This event is free for Holocaust survivors and village members. For non-members, the cost is $5. RSVP by August 7.
Friday August 12 from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Experience the thrill of capturing your life’s adventures, history and ancestry during a memory workshop led by award-winning author and Drexel University professor of creative writing and publishing, Harriet Levin Millan . You will need a laptop or pen/paper for the workshop. RSVP by August 9.
Comfort Cooking: Light & Delicious
Tuesday, August 16 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Join Bernadette Getzler as she takes you on a foodie journey using farm-fresh ingredients. We’ll learn how to cook our favorite late summer recipes in new and inventive ways by taking existing ingredients and replacing them with healthier options. Learn to see comfort food in a whole new way! RSVP by August 13.
Positivity Project: Evening Retreat
Wednesday August 17 from 7 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Join JFS Wellness Coordinator Mary Jean Arreola and Tina Serota for an evening retreat. Forget the worries of the day and get ready for a restful night. We’ll cover a wide range of topics including self-care, mindfulness, gratitude, meditation, and resilience. RSVP by August 11.
Coffee Klatch: Hybrid
Thursday August 18 from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Your world in 90 minutes! Join a quick chat about politics, technology, world events, arts, religion, and more. Moderated by Tina Serota. Attend in person at the Katz JCC Conference Room, 501 North Jerome Avenue in Margate or from home via Zoom. Mask encouraged in person. For Zoom, a link will be emailed to you. RSVP by August 11.
8th Annual Card Party
Thursday August 25 from 10:30 a.m.
Players can expect exciting games of Mahjong, Bridge and Canasta as well as lunch, auction items and door prizes at this event held at Harbor Pines Golf Club in Egg Harbor Township . Tickets are $75 per player and Village members get a 20% discount. Participants should arrange their own table with friends and family. Others will be randomly assigned to a table. Players must bring their own cards or game set.
Yoga night with Candice
Monday August 29 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Join Candice Martin for a Yoga class via Zoom. Find balance and tranquility while experiencing mental, physiological and spiritual rejuvenation. Burn off excess energy with gentle body movements, relax into a deeper state of relaxation and prepare for your evening rest. RSVP by August 23.

The Lynn Kramer Village by the Shore is a membership program for adults over 50.
The program offers intergenerational events, transportation, grocery and delivery, kosher meals on wheels and more.
