The Santa Barbara County Family Service Agency (FSA), also known as Santa Maria Valley Youth and Family Center and Guadalupe’s Little House By The Park, has appointed Paul Cordeiro to its board of directors.
“Paul’s extensive experience teaching Kindergarten to Grade 12 will be a tremendous asset to our agency,” said Lisa Brabo, FSA Executive Director. “Paul has made substantial improvements in education and positive contributions to the community. We are very happy that he is joining our board of directors.
Cordeiro began his career over 30 years ago as an elementary school teacher in the Unified School District of Los Angeles. After graduating from UCLA, he served as principal of Peabody School in Santa Barbara for six years, before becoming deputy superintendent of the Santa Barbara County Office of Education.
Cordeiro was Superintendent of the Carpinteria Unified School District from 2005 to 2015. He then served as Superintendent of Newhall School, where he improved performance for all groups of students, including English learners and underprivileged students. on the socio-economic level.
As a member of the Association of California School Administrators, Cordeiro was recognized five times as Administrator of the Year and named Superintendent of the Year in 2018.
A resident of Ventura for 20 years, Cordeiro retired in 2018.
