Kelly Olson Named Next CEO, President of Village Family Service Center – InForum
FARGO — The Village Family Service Center has named Kelly Olson its new CEO and President, making her the first woman to lead the nonprofit in its 130-year history.
The Board of Directors made the announcement on Tuesday, October 26.
Olson will assume leadership of the agency on January 1, succeeding Jeff Pederson, who is retiring on December 31.
“I am grateful to have the opportunity to be the next CEO of this incredible organization and am committed to continuing Jeff’s legacy of improving our culture,” Olson said.
Pederson has been CEO of The Village since 2018.
“We believe Kelly’s experience and vision are exactly what The Village needs to continue to thrive and better meet the behavioral health needs of our community,” said Board Chairman Tom Rohleder. .
During Pederson’s tenure, The Village expanded its offices in Fargo, Moorhead and Bismarck, transitioned to telehealth services during the pandemic and was reaccredited by the Council on Accreditation.
Olson has been with The Village for 22 years. She is currently Executive Vice President and Clinical Director of the organization, overseeing all client services.
She has also served as a division director, regional program director, clinical supervisor, outpatient therapist, and family home therapist.
Olson helped develop The Village’s early childhood mental health services in Minnesota, school services in Minnesota and North Dakota, and daycare mental health consultations.
She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in child development and family science from North Dakota State University and is a licensed marriage and family therapist.
The Village has offices in North Dakota and Minnesota. Its programs and services include mental health counseling, in-home family therapy, addiction treatment, consumer credit counseling and debt management, adoption services, pregnancy counseling, employee assistance programs and business training.
