Kelly Olson named next CEO, President of the Village Family Service Center

The board of directors made the announcement on Tuesday October 26th.

Olson will take charge of the agency on January 1, succeeding Jeff Pederson, who will retire on December 31.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to be the next CEO of this incredible organization and I am committed to continuing Jeff’s legacy by improving our culture,” said Olson.

Pederson has been CEO of The Village since 2018.

“We believe Kelly’s experience and vision is exactly what The Village needs to continue to thrive and best meet the behavioral health needs of our community,” said Chairman of the Board Tom Rohleder. .

During Pederson’s tenure, The Village expanded its Fargo, Moorhead and Bismarck offices, switched to telehealth services during the pandemic, and was re-accredited by the Council on Accreditation.


Olson has worked with The Village for 22 years. She is currently the executive vice president and clinical director of the organization, overseeing all client services.

She has also served as a Division Director, Regional Program Director, Clinical Supervisor, Outpatient Therapist and Home Family Therapist.

Olson has helped develop early childhood mental health services in The Village in Minnesota, school-based services in Minnesota and North Dakota, and mental health consultations in daycare centers.

She received a BA and MA in Child Development and Family Science from North Dakota State University and is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.

The Village has offices across North Dakota and Minnesota. Its programs and services include mental health counseling, home family therapy, substance abuse treatment, consumer credit counseling and debt management, adoption services, pregnancy counseling, employee assistance programs and business training.
