The Jewish Family Service of Atlantic & Cape May Counties (JFS) received an $ 80,000 grant from the Jewish Federation of Atlantic and Cape May Counties and its Jewish Community Foundation to support the overall operation of the agency for programs and services needed by the community.

The funds will allow JFS to continue to help individuals and families in the area through pantry, counseling, housing assistance, senior services and more.

JFS has been seen as the go-to agency in the community and last year the residents’ need for help has increased to unprecedented levels.

JFS Pantry has distributed over 50,000 pounds of food to over 7,300 people, administered over 6,000 telehealth counseling sessions and provided 120 Village by the Shore virtual programs as well as assisted housing assistance support, professional services and more.

“At JFS, we are grateful for the continued support of the Jewish Federation of Atlantic and Cape May Counties. In our current environment, our staff take pride in being able to continue to provide seamless assistance to everyone who walks through our doors. The need for many of JFS’s programs and services – food, shelter, counseling – continues to increase daily and with the support of donors, such as the Jewish Federation, we can help those in need, ”said Andrea Steinberg, Director. general of JFS. .

The Jewish Federation has also provided an additional $ 25,000 to support the services of Holocaust survivors who are matched by KAVOD SHEF.

In Atlantic County, 33 Holocaust survivors rely on JFS to help coordinate care, pick up and deliver groceries, transport to medical appointments, help for conference materials on complaints, virtual socialization programs and more.

JFS is committed to dramatically improving the safety and quality of life for Holocaust survivors in our region.

Funding was made possible in part by the Jewish Community Foundation of Atlantic and Cape May Counties and the annual campaign of the Jewish Federation of Atlantic and Cape May Counties.
