Jewish Family Service receives 4-star rating from Charity Navigator – OsideNews
California from San Diego— San Diego Jewish Family Service received its 14th consecutive four-star rating from Charity Navigator – the leading independent evaluator of charities in the United States. Thanks to rigorous assessments, less than 1% of the thousands of charities assessed receive this recognition continuously for more than a decade.
“It is important that our donors and partners have confidence that we are using their support and funding in a financially efficient and responsible way,” said Michael Hopkins, CEO of JFS. “We remain committed to building a stronger, healthier community and committed to the pursuit where everyone has the chance to thrive.”
Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, JFS adapted, revised and expanded its services to focus on what was needed most and provide essential assistance to people in crisis – whether they needed food to feed their family, starting a new life in the United States, looking for a safe place to sleep and beyond.
Charity Navigator looks for two categories to determine the standards for a four-star charity – financial health, accountability, and transparency. These ratings demonstrate how effectively charities use donor donations, how well they maintain programs and services over time, their level of commitment to good governance, and their willingness to share plans and progress with the public.
“This outstanding designation from Charity Navigator sets the Jewish Family Service of San Diego apart from its peers and demonstrates to the public its reliability,” said Michael Thatcher, president and CEO of Charity Navigator. “Only 27% of the charities we review have received three or more consecutive 4-star ratings, indicating that the Jewish Family Service of San Diego outperforms most other charities in America.
With the four-star rating, JFS continues to be one of San Diego’s most influential nonprofit human service agencies and consistently exceeds the industry standard.
