Family Service Wins AAUW Gateway to Equity Award – Daily Local
WEST CHESTER — At its annual May banquet, the AAUW West Chester-Chester County presented the Gateway to Equity Award to Chester County Family Service. Executive Director Mark Butler accepted the award, presented by AAUW Branch Co-Chair Janet Kane at the awards dinner and ceremony at McKenzie’s Brew House in Malvern.
The Gateway to Equity Award is presented annually to a group, organization, or individual who has demonstrated through action and philosophy furthering AAUW’s mission to advance equity for women and girls through the advocacy, education, philanthropy and research. Family Service was chosen from over a dozen nominations from AAUW members.
In accepting the award, Butler spoke of Family Service programs, working to improve and strengthen families. He focused his attention on their Exchange Club Family Center. In addition to helping meet the center’s short-term needs, such as food and clothing, AAUW members will make additional donations throughout the year, which may include volunteer opportunities.
“AAUW members look forward to working and learning about the important and critical work of family service in the year ahead,” Kane said.
