Family Service of RI Announces Brighter Futures 2022 Event

Family Service of Rhode Island announced that they will honor President K. Joseph Shakarchi for his work on behalf of children and families in Rhode Island this year 18th Annual Growing Together Luncheonscheduled for October 3, 2022. This year’s event will be a hybrid between in-person and online.

Each year, the FSRI brings together hundreds of Rhode Islanders – leaders in business, government and philanthropy working on the state’s most pressing issues – to connect and honor one person – a visionary who has had a transformative impact on the lives of children in our state. and families.

“President Shekarchi has been a tireless advocate for issues affecting children and families in Rhode Island, advancing legislation to improve the lives of everyone, not just those with the loudest voice,” said Margaret Holland McDuff, CEO of FSRI. “We are delighted to have the opportunity to come together in person again this year to honor him and his work.”

“I am deeply honored to receive the Brighter Futures Award from an organization like FSRI, which has been a vital resource for children and families for generations,” said President Shekarchi. “During the pandemic, the FSRI really stepped up to ensure Rhode Island’s most vulnerable residents had access to the services and resources they needed. I admire and appreciate Family Service’s partnership in ensuring that all Rhode Islanders have a path to a brighter future.

FSRI will host the in-person portion of the event at the Crowne Plaza in Warwick.

As always, funds raised at the annual Brighter Futures Luncheon go to support FSRI’s work to strengthen families in Rhode Island. This year, there is a particular focus on funding to ensure funding for their critical early childhood programs, First Connections and Early Intervention, so they can continue to provide services that help at-risk children survive. and to flourish.

Previous year’s recipients included the Honorable Gina Raimondo and former Director of the RI Department of Health, Dr. Nicole Alexander-Scott, among others.
