Family Service of Rhode Island Hosts Annual School Supply Drive

With a new school year comes a renewed hope and, of course, that familiar excitement of the first day of school.

As students prepare to return to class after more than a year of challenges, Family Service of Rhode Island (FSRI) is once again holding its annual school supply drive, August 3 through September 15, to support some of those who need it most – homeless and underserved students all over Rhode Island. The goal of the supplies campaign is to help fill the gap in opportunity for these students by making sure they start the school year with the necessary supplies.

“This year, the need is even greater as many families continue to face the financial challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic,” Margaret Holland-McDuff, CEO of Family Service of Rhode Island said in a statement. “For students whose families cannot afford supplies, coming to school unprepared can create social and emotional challenges, in addition to putting children at a disadvantage in learning. ”

At FSRI, we believe it is both an honor and a privilege to give back to the communities we serve. After all, “people help people” is the foundation of our core values. It is with this in mind that we have partnered with Starkweather & Shepley, Chase Bank, Claris Vision and the Rhode Island State Police. Those interested in supporting the sourcing campaign are encouraged to purchase from our online wishlist, which will be automatically delivered to our offices.

“We are delighted to partner with Family Service Rhode Island for their back-to-school campaign. Our hope is that we can bring some joy to families who need help back to school this year and build a lasting relationship with this great organization, ”said Stefan Petrella, vice president of Starkweather. & Shepley assurance in a statement.
