Sean Gerow, the former executive director of the Jewish Family Service in Orange County, New York, has been named the new executive director of the Family Service Association.
Gerow, who begins October 4, has over 25 years of experience in financial management, nonprofit leadership, and workforce development.
He replaces lawyer Gertrude McGowan, who has served as CEO of the Family Service Association since 2019. She was most recently appointed as a Benefits Consultant at Creative Benefits Inc. in Kingston.
“I am delighted to join the Family Service Association and to work alongside this dedicated team to provide exceptional quality service to the community,” said Gerow.
As the new CEO of the Family Service Association, Gerow will develop and administer all activities of the 13 health and social service programs offered in 17 counties in northeastern and north-central Pennsylvania.
At the Jewish Family Service, he developed and implemented the agency’s annual budget as well as marketing and fundraising plans, which included human resource management and grant writing, monitoring and reporting. Additionally, Gerow led the agency’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic by creating an emergency pantry that provided approximately 14,000 meals to more than 600 county residents and coordinated the delivery of pharmacies to neighbors. closed.
Gerow holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the State University of New York, New Paltz College, and a Master of Science in Health Care Management from the New School for Social Research.
