DEEP RUN, County of Lenoir (WLOS) – Deadly house fire takes the life of a woman in Lenoir County.

NewsChannel12 learned new details from the woman’s family on Saturday.

“It’s God’s plan. That’s all I can say. It’s God’s plan, and she’s probably in a much better place for what she was about to go through, ”said Debby Barwick.

Debby Barwick choked back tears as she spoke of her sister, Juanita Martin, who died in a house fire in Deep Run on Friday, December 3.

Barwick said her sister had just been diagnosed with cancer and was on an oxygen tank. She also said Juanita’s husband was also at home at the time of the fire. He was injured while trying to save Juanita, according to Barwick.

“He’s in Chapel Hill. He is in critical condition. He’s on life support, ”said Barwick. “He’s got burns all over his throat, lungs and arms. “

Barwick said the pain of losing his younger sister is unbearable.

“She was mine,” proclaimed Barwick. “I loved her to death. She was a good sister.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but authorities say nothing appears to be criminal.

A gofundme has been set up to help cover Juanita Martin’s funeral and medical bills for Rob Martin.
