Hyderabad: In another horrific incident, a man was allegedly stabbed to death by his wife’s family members for interfaith marriage. The woman who was previously a Muslim, had converted her religion to Hinduism and had recently married the victim a few months ago.

Police identified the deceased victim as Nagraj. The incident reportedly took place around 9 p.m. near Saroornagar Tehsildar’s office on Wednesday. According to reports, the accused was on a motorbike and had fled the scene after allegedly stabbing Nagraj. The incident allegedly took place on a crowded road and many people recorded the incident, clicked pictures of the corpse.

Following the incident, tension arose in the area and Nagraj’s family staged a protest claiming that his wife’s family was involved in Nagraj’s murder.

Nagraj was reportedly married to Pallavi (formerly known as Syed Ashrin Sultana) on January 31 against her family’s wishes.

Nagraj’s relatives alleged that his family killed the boy because they belonged to a different religion and got married without his family’s wishes.

Following the tragedy, the BJP organized a rally demanding justice and the arrest of the perpetrators. Raja Singh, a Telangana BJP MP, demanded the arrest of everyone involved in planning and carrying out the murder.

On Friday, Shehzad Poonawala, national spokesperson for the BJP, commented on the matter on Twitter. Poonawala said: “If a Muslim husband of a Hindu wife had been killed by his family, we know what would happen now! Congress, AAP, TMC, SP would have reached the United Nations alleging ISLAMOPHOBIA …the crime is secular?Hence the secular chupp.

The police filed a complaint, opened an investigation and searched for the suspect. According to Sridhar Reddy, Deputy Commissioner of Police, the first investigation showed that their love marriage was the motive for the murder.
